Blog # 13-Drug Addiction
I think that we should defiantly put drug addicts into a mandatory drug treatment program. I understand that this will be quiet costly but it is also becomes expensive when they are in and out of jail numerous times. I also think that the drug treatment program should not be the Beverly Hills version. What I mean by that is it should be the bare minimum, no luscious spa treatments. I struggle with drug addicts because they ruin so many people’s lives. Several of my family members have been hurt due to other people’s drug addictions. So my tolerance for them is pretty low.

I wonder if maybe the best situation for an addict would be to do some jail time and at that period go through a mandatory rehab program. I guess what I am trying to say is that you are right that the rehab should not be like a spa, but instead more like a jail. And if people came out clean and did not return to the way of life where they were using it would save tons of money in the end, but the problem is that no matter how hard we try no one but the addict can really make themselves change. We can not make them stay with the program, but we can make it where it is not enjoyable.
Having them in treatment programs is a good idea. But some people feel they do not need help from anyone. Some individuals will not admit to their problems. We as a world or community need to get these people help as soon as we see a problem. Because they could be putting a lot of people in danger, and they will not think about no one else life. Getting help for a major problem like drugs and mental illness, comes in handy and hopefully more people will realize they do have a problem and get help.
I agree with you that drug addicts should have to attend mandatory rehab programs, but the bottom line is, if someone doesn't want to change, they're not going to. The same way people can sit in class and not hear or learn anything is the same thing an addict will do if they don't feel it in their heart that they need to change.
I totally agree. Someone who is addicted to drugs should enter a drug treatment program for aid in eliminating their problem. I also have family members whose lives have been affected by drug usage. It is a serious matter. It should be in an affordable spa environment, to make the transition easier.
